HP ILO Port numbers

If you are trying to access an iLO behind a firewall, there are some TCP ports that need to be opened on the firewall.

Here is a list of the default ports used by iLO.

These can be modified on iLO’s  by clicking on Administration -> Access -> Services tab.

How to connect to HP ILO using SSH?

It is very difficult sometimes to take the ILO Homepage of a remote computer. Site loads very slow or the page is not supported and sometimes the compatibility issue. However, its very good to connect ILO using SSH with the tool “Putty”. You can directly connect to the ILO using the putty and make use of some useful commands to complete the task with easy.

Some useful commands
power – Display the current server power state
power on – Turn the server on
power off – Turn the server off
power reset – Reset the server
power warm – Warm boot the server

How to add a new VLAN on an HP Enclosure?

1. Open the Virtual Connect Manager for the enclosure.
2. Click on Ethernet Networks.
3. Right click on External Connections and choose “Add”.
4. Input the network name ” ” (including the vlan id is encouraged).
5. Place a check mark on “Use Shared Uplink Set:”
6. Select the appropriate “Shared Uplink Set”.
7. Enter the VLAN ID on “External VLAN ID:”
8. Click “Apply”.

Contact HP for hardware issues

Procedure to raise a case with HP for hardware issues :

1. Call HP @ 1800-633-3600
2. Option 1
3. Option 2
4. Say Shortcut – Proliant running microsoft
(If the server hardware is proliant with microsoft OS)
5. Else follow the IVR and select the appropriate Hardware and OS.
6. Note the Case ID and followup for hardware replacement.
