How to stop a hung service.

We are often getting trouble with a service being in starting or stopping state. There is solution to get off from such issues.

This happens due to the process which holds the service and to fix the issue we would need to find the PID so that we can kill it.

Please follow the below steps:

1. Query the process. Syntax: “sc queryex servicename” would need registry name.
2. Identify the PID.
3. Use Taskkill to kill the hung process. Syntax: ” taskkill /f /pid [PID].

This will forcefully hill the hung service.
